What’s the contest all about?
We’re launching the BusRadio Rockstar Contest to find the next big thing in music! We’re asking kids either on their own or with the help of their teachers to call us on 877 MYBUSDJ and leave 30 seconds of their song or upload the song to our website. You can use a song that you wrote yourself or sing a cover of a professional song. After the entry period ends, we’ll pick 10 finalists from three age groups to go head to head in a public vote on busradio.com. One winner from each age category will have their song professionally recorded and produced and played on BusRadio! The winner with the most votes overall will get $2000.00 for their school’s music program and $500 for themselves!
How is the winner chosen?
YOU will help choose the winner….
On November 11, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. EST we’ll stop accepting entries and choose the top 10 entries that we received in each age category: Elementary, Middle and High School. Then on November 26, 2008 the 10 finalists’ entries in each age category will be posted on BusRadio.com for YOU to vote on! We want YOU to choose the winner by listening to all the entries and deciding which is best. The entry that receives the most votes will be declared the Grand Prize winner. Voting ends on December 10, 2008 at 11:59 EST.
How will the judges choose the semi-finalists?
The judges will base their decisions based on three criteria:
(1) Content (25%)
(2) Originality (25%)
(3) Voice and/or Music Talent (50%)

Three prizes will be awarded:
GRAND PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded inclusive of; (a) a $500 cash prize to be awarded to the Grand Prize winner; (b) The Grand Prize winner’s song will be professionally produced by BusRadio and then played during BusRadio programming and (c) a $2,000 check to be awarded to the School in which the Grand Prize winner attends. The total maximum ARV of the Grand Prize is $3,000.
FIRST PRIZE: One (1) First Prize will be awarded inclusive of; (a) a $200 check to be awarded to the First Prize winner and (b) The First Prize winner’s song will be professionally produced by BusRadio and then played during BusRadio programming and (c) a $500 check to be awarded to the School in which the First Prize winner attends. The Total ARV of the First Prize is $1200.
SECOND PRIZE: One (1) Second Prize will be awarded inclusive of; (a) a $100 check prize to be awarded to the Second Prize winner and (b) The Second Prize winner’s song will be professionally produced by BusRadio and then played during BusRadio programming and (c) a $200 check to be awarded to the School in which the Second Prize winner attends. The Total ARV of the Second Prize is $800.
