BusRadio Privacy

BusRadio.com is an entertainment website aimed at young people in elementary, middle and high school. Our information practices are designed to facilitate interaction among users of the site, while complying with the United States Federal Trade Commission's Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (“COPPA”), effective April 21, 2000.

Personal Information

We do NOT require any personal information that can be used to individually identify a user. To become an active member of BusRadio.com, we ask for a user name and a password.

We ask for the gender of our users and the city and state that they live in (but NOT the street address), as well as the type of school they go to (elementary, middle or high school). We also ask for their date of birth.

For the purpose of password retrieval, we ask users to choose from a list of personal questions that only they would know the answer to. These questions EXCLUDE any personally identifiable information.

Information such as gender, age, city and state provide us with valuable demographics that will allow us to continue developing BusRadio.com in age-appropriate ways that suit our audience. We only ask for information that is reasonably necessary for us to internally improve the function and quality of our site and to deliver appropriate content to users.

If a visitor to BusRadio.com uses our feedback form, they have the chance to provide an email address or a parent’s email address. This information is used solely for replying to the request or query within the form. Providing such information is entirely optional and any addresses we collect are “one-time use” and are deleted from our records immediately.

Users may create a personal profile and an avatar to represent themselves. The personal profile is not visible to other users.

Communication Tools

BusRadio loves to hear what’s happening in kids’ lives and we know that kids enjoy talking about it too. BusRadio.com achieves this through a stream of random text shout outs known as the “Chatterbox” supplied by registered members. One-on-one conversation is not possible via this tool and all shout outs are rigorously screened for appropriateness. Shout outs in a public forum are not considered “chatting” according to COPPA regulations, and as such, we do not require parental permission for kids under the age of 13 to participate in them.

Cookies

Cookies are small bits of information we send to a user's computer. They allow us to remember who the user is as he/she travels around BusRadio.com. Because the content of our site alters according to the age of the user, we have to be able recognize each user as they move from page to page. Cookies also help us to see what parts of the site get the most traffic so we can develop more features that kids love.

Third Parties

We may share aggregated statistical data with our sponsors, partners, or the general public. For example, we may tell a sponsor that 45% of our users are girls, that 19% of our users live in New England, or that 65% of visitors in the last month participated in a particular contest.

Contests

BusRadio, Inc offers contest/sweepstake opportunities to all legal United States residents 18 years of age and younger as of entry date. Kids can enter by calling BusRadio, Inc. or via the website at BusRadio.com. Members are required to provide their contact phone number if over the age of 13 and their parent or guardian’s phone number if under the age of 13. Numbers are only used if an entrant wins and are for the sole purpose of distributing prizes. All contact numbers are destroyed at the end of each contest and are never shared with third parties.

For a full list of rules for each contest, look for the link on a particular contest/sweepstake page.

Updates to Privacy Policy

The Privacy Policy set out above is effective September 17, 2007. By using the site, you are accepting the practices set out in this Privacy Policy. BusRadio reserves the right to modify the Privacy Policy at any time by posting the changes on this page. Users who continue to visit the site and use any portion of it, following posting of the updated Privacy Policy, will constitute acceptance of the changes.
